Why You Can’t Request an Interac e-transfer to Your Neo Account from another bank (and What You Can Do Instead!)

This isn’t a glitch — it’s how things work at the moment when trying to request an e-transfer from an external bank to your Neo account. Let me explain:

While the option to request an e-transfer directly from another bank to your Neo account isn’t possible right now, don’t worry! You still have plenty of other ways to send, receive, and request money through your Neo account, and our teams are actively working on adding this feature in the future. Your feedback is essential in helping us make that happen!

How to Send, Deposit and Request Money with Neo:

Send Money with Interac e-Transfer®
To send money, you’ll need a Neo Everyday account. Simply go to Payments and send funds. The recipient will get a notification via email or text.

Deposit an Interac e-Transfer®
When someone sends you money via Interac e-Transfer®, you’ll get an email or text notification. Select Neo Everyday by Peoples Bank of Canada as your financial institution, log in to your Neo account, and answer the security question.

You can also set up Autodeposit for automatic transfers!

Request Money from Someone Else
You can also request money by sending an Interac e-Transfer® request. The person you’re requesting from will receive a notification, and once they send the money, you’ll be notified of the transfer.

Example of How This Works:

:cross_mark: My friend sent me an e-transfer request from their bank to cover my share of dinner, but I can’t send them the money that way.
:white_check_mark: “There is no need for a request from my friend to pay up, I got this” way → Instead, I use the ‘Send’ option from my Neo account to pay my friend my share.
