I would love to see Plaid integration and or integration with 3rd party budgeting apps like YNAB, so you don’t have to download csv files anymore. This is one of the main reasons I have not closed my Big 5 bank account.
As a fintech company, my expectation is that this kind of integration is done. In addition, budgeting apps are effective at managing spending, which I know from your newsletter is something you encourage.
This is very very nitpicking but what better place than here to talk about it. i used to love when id get early payment deposits (i.e direct deposit paycheques). They would be earlier than any other fin institution/bank. Sadly thats not the case anymore and deposits are released the same time as the big 5 if i’m not mistaken.
conversion rates between countries. It’d be great to see the conversion rate that neo would offer using their card, at least that way I can determine if it would be better for me to take out cash or just use my card.
For 2026, I’d like to see Neo introduce a real Premium Account / Premium Membership that gives extra value to members who actually use Neo as their main financial account.
For example, members who receive their direct deposit or payroll with Neo could get better benefits, like boosted cash back, exclusive offers, reduced fees, or other perks that make it worth moving more of their banking to Neo.
I’d also love to see unlimited Interac e-Transfers included with a premium account. That feels like a basic feature if Neo wants to compete as a daily banking option.
Since Neo is very digital-first, I think the premium experience should also include stronger digital card features, like disposable or virtual card numbers for online shopping, subscriptions, trials, or one-time purchases. That would add a lot of security and convenience.
I’d also like to see installment plans for larger purchases, as long as they are simple, transparent, and easy to manage in the app.
And personally, I still think there should be an optional personalized metal card, paid for by the member requesting it. Not everyone wants one, and that’s fine. But for those who do, it would make the premium product feel more complete without forcing the cost onto everyone.
To me, premium should mean more than just a nicer card. It should mean better everyday value, stronger digital tools, and more reasons to make Neo the main account.
As a newcomer living in Vancouver, here’s what I’d love to see from Neo in 2026:
Better tools for newcomers and immigrants. The credit-building journey for someone who arrived in Canada without a credit history is genuinely frustrating. Features like the bank account linking for credit assessment are a great step — but I’d love to see more educational content inside the app specifically designed for people building from zero, plus clearer milestones showing how your behaviour is impacting your credit profile.
Multi-currency or FX-friendly features. Many newcomers (and frequent travelers) send money internationally or spend in USD/other currencies often. Even basic FX transparency or a reduced-fee structure would be a huge differentiator.
Spanish-language support. The Latin American newcomer community in Canada is massive and growing. Even partial in-app Spanish support would unlock enormous trust with an underserved audience.
Neo already stands out in Canada. With these additions, it becomes the default choice for an entirely new generation of Canadians.
Hey man, those are some great ideas. I’m sort of surprised that Neo is the only interesting player in the secured card segment.
I do agree with you that a no FX travel card is needed, and hopefully with no cap on earning for travel spending. Neo, if you’re reading this, can you use Scotiabank’s Passport Visa Infinite Privilege as a template for your no FX travel card? I would love to see a 3-4% no FX on all travel spend and I won’t mind paying a premium annual fee for such a card. HSBC had one before RBC bought them. It would be great and I’m sure you’ll steal plenty of market share if you make a secured and unsecured version of this card. Please consider it!
Some things I think would improve my experience that I think would be quick wins:
When I select a transaction it would be helpful for me to see how many transactions I have had in total to that retailer/account. The total spent and a history of the last few transactions. This is helpful because when I want to pay for a service directly, like to my personal trainer, it helps me track my individual spends, reminds me how much I pay each time, but also how much I’ve paid in total. This can be useful with things like Amazon spends etc and makes it easier to spot transactions I might have otherwise missed
On another banking app in UK we had a round-up" pot. This would mean every time I made a transaction, the transaction amount deducted from my account would be rounded up to the next whole £ (in the case here $) and the extra would go into a pot with a higher interest rate. This is useful because if I spent $7.48 then $8.00 would be deduced with the additional $0.52 added to my pot. I can withdraw anytime but the interest on it would accumulate whilst the money remains in the pot. The amount it low but it would add up over time. Even without additional interest I like this because it’s just another way to put money aside, small amount per transaction. Optionally of course!
Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I think the monthly limits are a bad idea as spending patterns vary month to month. I get why there are caps and why they’re low, but the fairest way is to let us either roll over the unused limit to the next month or set a low annual limit based on the monthly caps. If my rewards aren’t more than the annual fee, then it’s not worth keeping the card.
I think it would be better if the World Elite cards got no FX or that the build tier got no FX would be a better idea. Growing at $12.99/month or requiring $20k in deposit is a tough pill to swallow.
If I have multiple Neo credit cards, will a Grow membership give me no FX on all the Neo cards I have, or will it only be for one card?
That’s one option to consider, but it would be better if you guys designed and came up with a genuine travel card that could be the best in Canada. It doesn’t have to include lounge access. It would be great, but not necessary as I have status with Air Canada. The former HSBC World Elite card was incredible as it had no FX and an accelerator for all travel-related spend. If Neo does do it, please don’t give a low cap for travel and then cite abuse as a potential abuse because I don’t think this category can be abused like the other categories.
I would love to see boosted cashback to increase if HISA is funded instead of parking money in everyday account which does nothing. Also if there is an option to increase cashback if TFSA,RRSP,FHSA be funded that would be great. I already mentioned this in a seperate thread which has got people commenting on there to agree. That is my one feature which needs to be shipped in 2026/2027.
I think Neo should consider adding FX to the Build membership and also give an annual fee rebate of some sort for holding multiple credit cards, especially World Elite credit cards.
