What do you want to see from Neo in 2026?

I’ve got three.

  1. Cheque deposits. For the love of God, let me close my Big 5 Bank account. This is the last feature I need.
  2. Unite Savings accounts with Everyday Accounts. What is the point of keeping these separate? I shouldn’t have to choose between interest and movability in 2026.
  3. Travel Credit Card. The Neo World Elite is amazing for Everyday, but I want something that competes for travel. FX fees, actually free lounge passes, bonuses on flights, etc.

What about you? What are you looking for?

As a Neo user I will +1 you on the cheque deposits and I’ll add the ability to re-categorize transactions so I don’t need my budget spreadsheet anymore.

  1. Similar to competitors, I would like to be able to click on my credit card and transfer the funds to my chequing account instead of using the cash advance feature from a bank machine.
  2. I would like to see Neo add to its roadmap the ability to deposit cash at specific locations within the city. Instead of having multiple bank branches, maybe just a kiosk in a major mall or two.
  3. Many places refuse to accept my neo bank card. There should be an easy reporting system built right into the online banking. So I can quickly enter the company’s name and address.

Interesting opportunity… we do have a lot of mall locations to capitalize on.

Got only one for now:

To offer an alternative method for linking external accounts that does not require sharing online banking credentials with a third party service, as opposed to the current Flinks setup.

Your main concern being the security of your login credentials?

I am Tissa Jayasekara, i am expecting my Funds back, which Neo Financial owe me. I have submitted my void cheque as requested by the Neo Financial Accounts branch, However when i contact them they say they have delivered, but when i request them their tracking number or delivery date the dont give? The Help desk, when i question? reply is it will come?
This was in 2025, Nov, Dec. hope you will deliver my bank in 2026?

Agreed, this is what’s keeping me, personally, from closing my childhood bank account. It is on the roadmap, although I don’t know the current expected release.

Hey Tissa, we looked into this and it looks like the original payment didn’t fully go through.
I’ll reach out directly to help get this sorted.

+1 on a travel credit card. It would be nice to see a travel credit card with a skyteam alliance member as existing banks have travel cards with star alliance/one world members. There’s enough personal finance/travel influencers that the card would travel quickly by social media

Let us use a US phone number for the account. A lot of Canadians use US numbers because of work and because it’s cheaper.

One thing I would really like, is just not to have to do everything through the every day account. It’s frustrating having to do 2 transfers every time I want to do something, like pay off my card or an e-transfer.

Out of curiosity, where are you traveling most? Business travel to US? Vacations in Mexico? Asia? We might have to pick a certain use-case to start with first.

+1 on this. I gave up the cashback boost to capitalize on the 3% HISA rate and now paying my credit card is super awkward. Why do chequing accounts exist in the first place?

It is not only about the security of login credentials. At a fundamental level, it just does not feel right and is a matter of principle. I am personally uncomfortable with the idea of sharing primary online banking credentials with any third party, even with assurances around encryption or safeguards.

Having an alternative way to link accounts would go a long way. It would respect that principle, give people real choice, and help build trust over the long term by reinforcing a healthier security culture rather than normalising something many users feel uneasy about.

+1 on the cheque deposits and being able to make bill payments directly from savings vs. moving into everyday banking first.

Also, a business banking account.

Which places refuse your card? And which card?

Got it! I hate to say it, but it’s very unlikely we’ll get to the point where we have 1st party integrations. It’s technically difficult for a single institution, and there are actually dozens or hundreds of places in Canada alone that we’d have to build for. This is the reason companies like Flinks are so successful.

Still, appreciate you voicing your concern and voicing it clearly! Keep it coming!

I understand why aggregators like Flinks and Plaid exist, and I agree that full coverage is not trivial. That said, there are already institutions that support form based option using institution number, transit number, and account number, either instead of or alongside aggregators.

A few examples are:

  • Simplii
  • Tangerine
  • Oaken
  • Laurentian Bank
  • Alterna Bank
  • Meridian
  • Peoples Trust
  • Manulife
  • WealthOne
  • Wealthsimple
  • DUCA

Some of these are larger than Neo and some are smaller, which at least suggests it is feasible in parts of the ecosystem. I am not suggesting replacing Flinks outright, but rather exploring whether a parallel approach could make sense for users who strongly prefer it. If helpful, I would be happy to continue the discussion in a separate thread and contribute constructively.

Like a PAD? This is super interesting, I see where you’re going now. The banking team might want to chat.
