Cathay WE card bonus

Hi all,

I’ve had the Cathay WE for almost a year now and I recall the bonus for Cathay purchases was 4x Asia Miles when I first got the card. Does anyone know if that bonus was a welcome thing or is it a core feature of the card?

In my acc I only see 2x for foreign purchases listed as an accelerated earn rate.

It’s 4x for purchases on Cathay directly for flights. Checking my reward transactions for a flight I booked in December 2025, that came in two transactions:

  • 1:1 CAD to Asia Miles
  • 1:3 CAD to Asia Miles

I can’t seem to find it in the app though, so that’s a bit hidden. Hopefully that is made a bit more clear. I think when they first introduced the card, it was 2x. But they doubled it in June 2025 (from email from Cathay) so it’s now 4x.

Neo might need to update the card rewards information.

@stnly That 4x multiplier on Cathay Pacific flight bookings is indeed a core feature of your card, not just a temporary welcome bonus. The reason you might only see the 2x rate highlighted in your account is that the 2x applies broadly to all foreign transactions, while the 4x is a specific “merchant bonus” tied to the Canadian Cathay Pacific website. Because it’s treated more like a partner reward in our system, it doesn’t always show up in the same “accelerated” list as your general category earns. To ensure you’re getting that full 4x rate, the most important thing is that the purchase is made through the Canadian Cathay Pacific website.

Is there a way to get some better information about that within our logged in account views?

For example, on Cathay Pacific World Elite Mastercard – powered by Neo | Cathay CA and Cathay World Elite® Mastercard® – powered by Neo , they mention these Cathay-specific perks, like doing redemption for Cathay lounge access, online priority check-in, extra baggage redemption (and of course the 4x Asia Miles). There’s already that section on Exclusive World Elite Rewards, so this stuff would probably fit nicely as a new section like Exclusive Cathay Rewards. Alternatively, an extra entry under Extra Rewards might work too.

I mean departing from other cities like Hong Long and paid the ticket in CAD. Can I still get the 4x miles? thanks

I read the T&Cs for this recently and it suggests the flights can be booked from outside Canada as long as they’re booked in CAD. I have not personally tried it.
