URGENT: Erroneous $10,001 Pending Transaction / Negative Account Balance

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here to see if anyone has gone through something similar or has any advice, because I am incredibly stressed out right now.

Long story short: I was trying to add some money to my Neo account using my debit card, and by mistake, an accidental transfer of $10,000 went through. Now, my account balance is sitting at -$10,000.

I tried to fix it immediately in the app, but I’m completely locked out of doing anything:

Can’t Dispute it: When I try to signal or report the charge, the app tells me I can’t do anything because the transaction is still “pending.”

Can’t Close/Freeze the Account: I wanted to temporarily delete or restrict my account to stop any further issues, but the system blocks me because of the active pending transfer.

I’m really panicking about getting hit with massive overdraft fees or the transaction actually clearing. Has anyone else made a typo like this? Does Neo usually cancel these pending debit loads if you flag them, or do I have to wait for it to fully post before anyone can help me?

Any insights or advice would be massively appreciated. Hope you’re all having a better day than I am!

It’s not possible to load your Neo Money account using a debit card. Do you mean you accidentally transferred $10,000 from a linked bank account?

Yes, that’s it that’s what i meant

I don’t think there’s anything that can really be done. When the transferred amount reflects in your Neo Money account, you need to transfer it immediately back to your linked bank account. Then, give your bank a call and explain the situation to them.

Okay thanks thats so weird too they charged me twice 10k so 20k total first it said neo financial on the first bill and second neo security its so crazy because i have no money available on my neo account its crazy how they do their affairs horrible you know when could the funds be available? and if anyone had a situation like that please was it fix thank you

Hey @guywithaproblem, welcome to the community!

Did you try contacting the sending institution to reverse the transfer? Also do you have a secured account and the everyday account, that may be why you were charged twice.

Neo has phone support, they can offer best case senario and by all means contact the sending bank NOW. The sooner you make nitvof the issue rhe bettet, don wait until ir clears. Let them know. If the customer service rep that you’re speaking to can’t freeze any overdraft amounts, just ask for the manager. This is a common mistake, decent banks will do reversal fees even if you did get charged. But the most important thing is to deal with it right now in real-time. And let both banks know you’re waiting for the money to go back. And if they can assist to have this goal as quick as possible.
