Hiya! I just swapped from my Neo Mastercard (Credit) to a Neo World Mastercard. I also had the Gas at 100% for rewards ($500 in gas). Checking the tracker now its $0 out of $1000 which makes sense. But I’m wondering if I still get the reward on June 1st or does it cancel out now since I swapped? I treat my cashback as a saving that I don’t touch unless I need it. If you can answer this question that would be helpful.
Thanks!
Hey there @Lawful, and congrats on the upgrade to the Neo World Mastercard!
Your cashback is safe and won’t be lost. Cashback is tied to your Rewards Wallet, not your physical card, so any rewards earned before upgrading will still be paid out normally. The tracker resetting to $0/$1,000 simply reflects your new World Mastercard spending limit going forward.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
I’m not 100% sure I’m reading your question correctly, so please correct me if I’m wrong.
I think you’re looking at the category caps. Each month the Neo Mastercard gets $500 / month of possible cashback at 1%. You had spent $500 that month, so you’d earned the maximum ($5). If you’d stayed on the Neo Mastercard in June, you would have seen the cap reset to $500 in June.
Since you switched card, you now have the World rewards and cap. The World card gives 2% on gas and has a cap of $1,000. You’ll still see the cap fill up each month and reset the next month.
Does that sound like what you’re seeing? Or am I way off base?
I get the whole reset thing, was just curious if i’d still get the $5 at the beginning of the month for reaching the goal, even if i switched cards
Getting $5 for reaching a goal sounds like a partner reward? Like, you were trying to work towards a specific spend goal with a specific partner merchant?
If that’s the question, those goals are issued on a per card basis. I’m not really sure why it was set up that way, but if you switch cards in the middle a merchant spend target, it will reset and you’ll have to start again.
I’m personally happy to comp you for the difference, you shouldn’t miss out on something you were progressing towards just because you made a good decision and upgraded your card.
