I figured out how to switch the cashback categories in the app. Does the rewards boost for Shop & Dine work the same as Gas & Grocery?

Hi, how did you do it?

The easiest flow is to go to the card you want to switch (must be a World or World Elite card), click Manage card → Explore card options

Funnily enough, it works exactly the same… meaning it boosts groceries, gas, and recurring. This is generally not useful, I don’t recommend using Boost with either the Shop & Dine card or the Everywhere card, I would keep that money in the HISA instead.

Click on credit card, settings (right top corner icon), under Card | Explore card options

The good: my Hagerty insurance charge went from 1% to 5% which is great. The first charge was in May and the system didn’t recognize it as recurring. Thrilled to get more back now. Grest work.

The bad: my Public Mobile charge went from 5% to 1%. Its a small thing and certianly not the end of the world but it is one of the rare frustrations I have with this. I believe this is possibly on public mobile’s end as it classifies itself as services and not a telecom company? Frustrating as this one has been hit or miss on the recurring and I thought the update would finally put that to bed. It appears to be put to bed, but not as a recurring as I believe it should be. If you guys are able to change its classification in the background somehow, I believe that would be the right thing to do.

Keep up the great work, its awesome having a spot where you can post your concerns and get a genuine answer back from someone at the company, feels rare these days.

Yeah I stay with G&G, cash out then move it to HISA

Mind if I look at the transaction on your account and see what merchant code they send? This should definitely be included.

I don’t mind at all, thanks Grant, Have a great weekend!

It’s coding as the purchase of a phone, rather than phone services. Is your phone financed, perchance?

This is important feedback, appreciate you bringing it up.

Hi everyone,

First of all, thank you for introducing the new credit card rewards system. I appreciate the additional flexibility and choices it provides to cardholders.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. How can I change my rewards category?
I tried doing it through the Explore Card section, but the “Continue” button remains greyed out, so I’m unable to proceed with the category change process. Is there another way to update it?
  2. For the Dine & Shop category, how does the chequing account deposit bonus work?
Am I understanding it correctly that the rewards rate would be:
  • $5,000 in eligible deposits → 6% / 3.5%
  • $10,000 in eligible deposits → 7% / 4%

Or is the bonus calculated differently?

Thank you for offering these new reward options. Honestly, I think they give consumers more choice and make the product lineup more competitive.

Thanks in advance for any clarification!

Hmm thats odd, phone is not financed as public mobile only does byop plans.

Changing the cashback options is not intuitive at all.

I could not figure out how to change the setting to Everywhere at 1% instead of default 0.5%.

When I go to card settings the flow looks like if I’m applying for a completely new credit card, so I didn’t do anything.

Reading the comments I understand this is actually the correct flow:grimacing:

Good news! We went through and it turns out a lot of telecom providers send that code. If it’s not financed and lots of providers use it for regular phone bills, we really need to include it. We went to bat on Friday and as of today, that merchant code is fully included. I believe the tech team will also be administering a credit to people who missed out on that code in the first week of the month.

Your feedback really made an impact this time, thanks for speaking up!

I don’t think it is actually the correct flow, I think you’re hitting a pretty endemic bug. I hit it too, I think it’s because we have relatively old accounts. There’s a fix being developed now.

Welcome to the community, my friend! Great questions.

There are some reasons people might be unable to change rewards schemes. Do any of these match your situations?

  • Have you opened a card less than 90 days ago?
  • have you changed your card less than 90 days ago?
  • Do you have an in-progress credit application?
  • Do you have a card issuance pending?

The Boosts don’t work the way you would want them to, I’ll be honest with you. They book gas/grocery/recurring exactly the same way they do the Gas and Grocery card. Since the fallback rate on the World Elite is one percent, the only one that will make any impact is grocery, if you put $10,000 in you will end up with 2% on grocery, which is better than 1% but probably not worth locking up $10k in the chequing account that could be accumulating interest in the savings account.

Does that help?

I currently have a secured Neo Mastercard and am working through a consumer proposal. Questions:

  1. Can any of the new cards be secured?
  2. Do they require new application? If not, what is the transfer process?
  3. Does the minimum income pertain to only me or can my spouse be included?

Thanks!

  1. Yes they can.
  2. Grant may have to answer this one but I don’t think they currently have a way to upgrade your Neo Mastercard to a Neo World Mastercard.
  3. There’s a different number for personal versus household income. You have to meet at least one of them. See whichever card your interested in bellow:

@PhilJ1 basically nailed it. Just to double down on it.

  1. All Neo cards have secured options.
  2. There is an upgrade path from the Mastercard to the World Mastercard, secured and unsecured. I believe that’s in the “Explore card options” section.
  3. Income requirements for World are $50,000 individual or $80,000 household. For World Elite are $80,000 Individual or $150,000 household.
