For those who are self-employed/contract work. Would be nice to have a business account option, to keep business and personal money separate.
It makes it easier to track business expenses & income. And comes in handy when tax time hits: especially for filing GST / deductions. Just simplifies everything with one statement for bookkeeping.
+1. I’m self-employed (incorporated) and absolutely loathe dealing with the legacy banks for my commercial banking. Even something as simple as being able to label a Neo account as a business account would be an OK start.
I’d love the ability to hold cash in different currencies in change them to CAD when the rates are favourable (this is one thing I’ll give RBC props for, I can hold cash in sterling, euros, USD, and HKD and then change it on demand).
The only problem I would run into, is it would mix my personal transactions with business (unless I strictly use for business) but I like using neo for personal. Also I don’t believe the current account is compatible or integrates with accounting software (at least I can’t link mine to QuickBooks) so I have to manually enter everything which can be tedious.
in regards to getting the transactions out of Neo accounts, an API would come in really handy. Or a data exporter for different accounting apps.
Personally, I’d love a bi-directional API where I can trigger different actions based on events. Once I could get at the data programmatically, it would be quite easy to use something like n8n to pull data for quickbooks or other accounting apps, move money from one account to another within my neo account and do all sorts of other fun/useful stuff.
