Disappointed with Neo World Elite Mastercard Experience — Annual Fee Charged Without Chexy Compatibility

Hi Neo Team and Community,

I’m quite disappointed with my recent experience with the Neo World Elite Mastercard.

I signed up specifically because the Neo sales representative assured me that the card works with Chexy — a rent payment platform I planned to use regularly. Only after activating the card and paying the $125 annual fee, I discovered that Neo cards are not supported by Chexy.

I contacted customer support and while they were ready to close the card immediately, they refused to refund the annual fee — even though I had barely used the card and the key reason for getting it turned out to be false.

This feels unfair and misleading, especially since I made the decision based on incorrect information provided by Neo’s own team.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: My request:
Please Offer a full refund of the annual fee when a card is canceled due to such misinformation.

I hope this can be resolved. I’d like to continue using Neo if trust can be restored.

Thanks,
Neeraj

Hi @Neerajmadaad. Welcome to the community. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.

We definitely don’t want our customers feeling this way, and I’d love to help look into this for you. I’ll be sending you a DM so we can dig into this further.

Also, I checked in with the team and did a bit of browsing on Chexy’s website - it looks like they’re not just excluding Neo cards, but actually not supporting any Canadian-issued Mastercards at this time.

Hi @Alex-Neo,
The same situation happened with me as well. I didn’t use the card at all. But, Neo account says I have to pay annual fee. I close the account within few minutes and didn’t made any transaction cause I thought card will be useful to me.

Hi @anon21088155,
Thank you for your response.
I opened the account but, after reviewing my expected usage, I realized the cashback benefits wouldn’t outweigh the costs. So, I decided it wouldn’t be very useful for me and chose to close it shortly after.
I believe I shouldn’t be charged for the account, as I didn’t use it at all and closed it within a few minutes of opening. I hope this concern can be resolved — either for me or for future users who may find themselves in a similar situation, where they close the account shortly after opening it without any usage. In most cases, there is typically a 30-day return or cancellation policy.
If I had actually used the card, I would understand the charges, but in this case, the circumstances are different.
Thank you for your understanding.

Chris may be able to help, I don’t know, but if you don’t mind me asking — what got you to the conclusion the cashback isn’t worth it?

My own experience (prior to joining the Neo team) was amazing, hitting at least $125 in cashback every month.

Hey @Keval78 I did just get back to you in the DM you sent me, please get back to me when you can! But also I’m also curious about what turned you off of our cashback program. Was there a specific rate you wished was higher or anything?

That doesn’t make sense at all. The base rewards are published before you sign up. This card pays by itself after a couple of months and you don’t need to spend a lot of money. If you put your grocery on it and your recurring payments you get more than the fees. I calculate that with 200$ grocery a month and 100 dollars a month recurrent payments. It’s very minimal and people will spend much more than that.

Just wanted to point out that with these low numbers to show it’s impossible to not break even unless you don’t use it at all
