So i have had my cellphone bill, my sons cell phone bill and my insurance and other bills set up for recurring automatic payment as neo has them advertised for getting cashback however i just noticed that i havent recieved any cashback for them for the past 2 years… i get it may not be much, but even at 1% that adds up over the past 2 years that i shouldve recieved this. How do i go about having this cashback reimbursed? If thats not an option i will just switch the payments to one of my other credit cards that do pay rewards.
Which cellphone company is it?
In early December 2024, TELUS changed the value in the “recurring payment indicator” attribute from “recurring” to “credential on file”. As a result, any card that rewards “recurring” payments will no longer trigger the accelerator. - from u/CalgaryBen1973 on Reddit.
It’s an issue that seems to happen to all of us and is frequent. If that ongoing purchase doesn’t qualify for the reoccurring promo cashback amount, then I would set up another card you know does qualify for those types of purchases. Rumour has it they may blanket all types of reoccurring payments to qualify, but until that time, I would use multiple cards to maximize your cashback/rewards.
Thanks for flagging this @DannyH! This is most definitely not the experience we want for you, and honestly, I’d be frustrated too if I’d been waiting on those rewards for two years.
The truth is, our current system relies pretty much exclusively on the Mastercard code for the transaction, and it’s clearly not working here. We know the recurring rewards experience hasn’t been great yet, but we’re actively working on making the whole system much more seamless for our users.
Have you ever reached out to support about this? If you have a ticket number handy, I’d love to look into it from my end and see what I can do to help.
So i did contact customer support today, and appearantly my world mastercard doesnt get cashback on recurring payments, only the world elite card does… its pretty disappointing as i recall seeing somewhere that its a 2% cashback on recurring payments, also that there is cashback rewards on streaming services however none of that is true. Currently its nothing unless you get the world elite card, which then jumps up to 4% cashback on recurring payments.
I have telus, and lucky mobile, then also DAZN and a few other streaming services
