Cashback page is kinda boring. I’m sure there are ways to make it more useful for both user and the company. With the current layout, it is not clear what the user is supposed to do here.
• Back in 2022-2023, this page at least used to show who cash back is from, which now happens in rare few instances.
• “Available on [date]” would be more meaningful than just “pending”
• In the transactions tab, all these transactions show the merchant, category, type, and what cashback is for, but the information does not get transferred over here.
• With all the emphasis on boosted cashback, different premium add-ons, different cards etc it would be helpful to understand which cashback is boosted or not, see recurring transactions, what category the transaction fell under, which card was used etc. This could be used to show users how they can get more cashback if they switched to a different card or used a different card, had a higher boost level etc.
• It would be interesting to see the top merchants and categories by rewards earned and have a search bar to search for merchants to check if the cashback was applied and that it was applied correctly without having to scroll;
• If you click on these individual transactions, many will show “reward earned [$amount]” and a separate tab also saying “reward earned [$another_amount]”. There is no way for the user to know why the reward is split into two tabs and what they are for. This creates confusion and makes no sense.
• The section on top shows rewards earned this month and “lifetime earned” but no way to see rewards earned by month or year. Rewards earned by year would be a useful feature to let users make informed decisions on whether the rewards earned outweigh the annual fee.
• Referral bonus rewards show here in the same feed as cashback, which is not obvious. Some users told me they believe that rewards are a scam and do not exist. They believe that because there is no notification when referral bonus is earned and the referral bonus gets lumped together with cashback. They only way to find it is to get into this feed, which most people would not do because they don’t know that this is what they have to do. It is very important to have a way to let users know when referral bonus is applied to provide satisfaction and encourage them to refer more.
• When you click on individual items here, a menu with details would open. Inside this menu there is an additional “details” section which opens one (!) line, “Date posted”. I don’t see a reason why users should go to details to only click on details again that only opens one extra line. Most of that screen is empty and could easily fit “date posted”. If there is anything for users to click on, it should make sense for the user and the company, e.g. “explore more rewards” button would be better than having to go back using the arrow button in top left corner as the only option. Once you go into the rewards section there is no “home button” option to go back to the main menu, the only way to get out of this is to click “back”, which is annoying.
