Very Angry with this card

I was accosted by your representatives while shopping at WEST EDMONTON MALL. She grabbed my phone and downloaded app and such, $3000 mastercard. Showed up eventually.

Used same to buy a lousy tank of gas and a meal out, and tried to send to a friend in dire straits on PayPal, which was declined because the card won’t do that (not an issue - I used a real bank instead).

The next morning got an email saying my credit limit had been slashed.

I sent two paystubs from my employer of over 18 years.

Went to buy groceries at Costco, exceeded tap limit (ALL MY OTHER CARDS HAVE TAP TURNED OFF SO I DIDN’T KNOW, OK?)

So, insert card and attempted to pay that way. Exceeded my now incredibly limited credit limit, WHICH WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME, BY THE WAY. Slashed to the bone.

Given that the limit was so low to begin with, this really TICKS ME OFF! What gives?!?!

Sounds brutal. I’m lucky I haven’t seen much or any of this. How long have you had the card?

That… sounds rough. Appreciate your feedback, and want to turn that around, if we can. Is the lower than expected credit limit that main issue?

One day. First two times I used it.

I’m so peed off

Lower than expected? Rolling on the floor laughing. Less than 300 on a 3000 limit?

Demanding immediate payment or 2 paystubs. I sent two paystubs

Incidentally that was Sunday I sent them

That sounds awful. I sincerely apologize for that. Let me talk to the credit team and see what happened.

The card had a $3000 limit. I had a tank of gas at Costco and a meal (no alcohol) at fhe Keg. I got the card in the mail Friday, and this was Saturday.

The next morning I got an email demanding either immediate payment of my balance or two paystubs. I’ve been with loblaws over 18 years. I sent two paystubs.

When they said they slashed my limit, I was thinking maybe $1000, but no. The added bonus of embarrassment as it would not even cover $300 in groceries at Costco.

If this is typical NEO behavior, I am so NOT impressed.

I had the card since Friday and its Monday.

All my debit and credit cards have tap disabled except this card, so now I know the tap limit is apparently $250.

The girl at the kiosk at WEST EDMONTON MALL who grabbed my phone, downloaded the app, registered the virtual card, and enrolled it in Google wallet, which I had never in my life used, as I don’t tap my phone to pay for anything. Did not say that the card is virtually useless because when you use it twice they cut your limit to the bone, leaving you totally embarrassed

I am SO NOT IMPRESSED

Hi Dan, I’m just seeing this post, and I am truly so sorry that you’ve had to go through this. The team in charge of this had temporarily lowered your credit limit due to some recent changes in your balance or payments. This was just a precaution to help keep your account secure and maintain your credit health.

I also want to truly apologize for the experience you had when signing up with us. Having your phone taken and then having our rep go through the the process for all of that is not at all how we want things to go and this will absolutely be brought up here to make sure it can be addressed and not happen again. I’m going to send you a DM on here to get some more details about it all. Please get back to me when you can.

I have good news though, if you haven’t already seen it! Our team reviewed what you had submitted to them and they have restored your limit! You should be able to login and see this reflected on your account now, and an email was sent to you by them as well. Aside from this more than rocky start to being with us, I hope now that things are back to normal, you start really enjoying using the card and exploring all we can offer, especially in terms of our cashback partners! And hey if you need help with anything, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me, I’m here to help!

Yes, it was restored this morning, too late to have been of help yesterday at Costco.

I only got the physical card November 14, and had used it November 15.

Yesterday was the 17th and it was completely unusable then.

The kiosk girl, the one who signed me up was very enthusiastic and told me it had a 3000 limit.

Why the panic to cut me off the first two times I used it, I WILL NEVER KNOW

You say it was due to recent changes in my balance e or payments. By this you mean I actually received the card and I used
It two times? Yes, i can see that would (NOT) constitute an emergency where full balance was demanded or two paystubs with over $2700 available on a 3000 limit on a “no credit check required” mastercard

Its fixed (for now) until?

That’s a rough start, I apologize on behalf of the team. If it makes you feel better, it’s also not common. Most users never see a credit restriction like that, at any point. We’ve flagged it with the credit team so they know the pain you’ve gone through.

Thank you. It was very embarrassing. Fortunately I had other cards.

I’m glad you had other cards and they worked. That’s happened to me with cards before and, fortunately, my partner has always been able back me up. Hopefully things are smoother going forward!
