Hello, I was trying to open up an account. My daughter is 17 years old and cannot open one by herself, but she says that- if I as her parent open one up - then she can open it up under my account. However, when I put my email in, it says, โhave we met?โ It says that my contact email is known to you already. How is that possible? When I try to go through the password reset route, no emails comes to my email. Also, when I go through the start chatting route, it just routes me back to the logon page? Any help, support or clarification would be appreciated. thanks.
Hi @DarkGiant. Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the community!
Just wanted to jump in and clarify a few things:
The Neo Everyday account is only available for folks who are 18 years old or older, while the Youth Everyday account, JA Money Card and Neo Cash accounts are available for students across Canada aged 13 to 17 (except in Quebec, where youth need to be 14 to open their own account).
If your daughter is interested in opening a Neo account, she can sign up through this link. Currently, Neo doesnโt offer joint or shared accounts.
The JA account is designed to allow your daughter to have full autonomy over her account and card, this is to help cultivate responsibility and independence with finances.
You can still speak on behalf of your daughter with our support team if she has authenticated and given consent.
A little bit about the program:
The Junior Achievement program is a feature of the Everyday Account - it is not itโs own product. Main differences include age requirements and transfer limits. Junior Achievement (JA) is a Canadian non-profit organization that educates young people on business and financial literacy. They offer programs in-person across each province and through a self-directed virtual platform called JA Campus, to youth of all ages.
Hereโs a handy article that goes into more detail about youth accounts.
Donโt hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions or run into any issues - happy to help!
