How to Update or Add a Pre-Authorized Deposit or Withdrawal

You may have set up automatic deposits or payments with different organizations. This could include things like your employer sending your paycheque, the government sending benefits, or companies such as your phone or mortgage provider taking payments from your account on their own.

These are called pre-authorized deposits (money coming in) and pre-authorized withdrawals (money going out).

If you want to update your bank information with an organization you already use, or add a new organization for automatic deposits or payments, you will need to share your current account details with them. They use the account details you provide to send or take money automatically.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Find your account numbers in the Neo app.
Every organization that sends money to your account or takes payments from it will ask for three numbers. See instructions below for where to find them:

    • Account Number

    • Transit Number

    • Institution Number

  2. Give these numbers to the organization you want to set up or update.
This could be through their online form, a mobile app, a paper form, or by contacting their support team.

When the organization completes the update, your deposits or payments will switch to your new numbers on the next scheduled deposit or withdrawal, unless they give you a different effective date.

For example, to update your payroll information, you can find your account numbers in the Neo app and then follow your workplace’s process to submit updated banking details. This may be through a payroll or HR system, or by providing the information directly to your employer.

How to Find Your Account Numbers

  1. Open the Neo app.

  2. Go to “Accounts.”

  3. Tap your Neo Everyday account.

  4. Tap the gear icon in the top right that says “Manage.”

  5. Select “Account Details.”

  6. You will see the three numbers you can use to set up or update any automatic deposit or payment. There is also an option to download this information as a PDF if the organization requests a void cheque or an auto deposit form.
