One thing I like about Neo is the amount of information that gets pushed to email, e.g. every reward earned, transactions, payment reminders, foreign fee reimbursement notifications etc.
In theory, this should be enough to build a decent tracker without directly connecting to Neo.
While emails don’t have all the information (e.g. account balances etc), I’m wondering if anyone build their own Neo spending tracker that pulls and interprets data from emails? If you did, I’m curious how you built it.
@GrantLahring_Neo I’ve just discovered Apple Shortcuts and don’t know much about it.
For emails it kind of depends what you’re trying to do and cost/cyber/privacy/legal considerations, your AI and technical skills and time you’re willing to spend to set this up.
For personal use, the easy AI way is ChatGPT → Plugins → Gmail or Outlook → connect required email → create prompt on what to do → turn it into a skill → create & schedule a task.
Or the Claude Cowork equivalent. It does burn tokens but not as much as you might think if we’re not talking enterprise scale or something with high frequency.
The old way would be to connect with IFTTT or Zapier or Power Automate if you had to deal with MSFT lol
Or you can create rules and autoforwarding to external services to do stuff with emails.
You can also plug emails into Slack especially if you just need to pull them, then add slack integrations to do stuff with them.
There are all kinds of tools you can build or buy for both personal and enterprise.
I think you hit it on the head. I have it working now with an input tool + Claude MCP. I just have to re-run the MCP every week to keep the data fresh. What a time to be alive!
This is honestly a great idea. It would be really cool if Neo eventually built something like this directly into the app.
I like the current spending overview with categories, monthly spending and cashback, but I feel like there’s room for more detailed insights, like spending trends over time, comparisons to previous months, recurring expenses, or customizable categories/budgets.
That said, maybe the simplicity is part of what makes Neo, Neo.
Great point. A scalable budget or way to track your spending would be a good and economic feature to add. Bonus is if its complexity could be scalable (custom categories), or provide reference frames such as targeting say 20% on transportation etc.
