#019 Activation flow comparison: Neo World Elite

What I liked:

In-app activation flow is very easy: open the app, click “activate” on the card on the main screen, enter cvv and expiry date and that’s it!

There is no design for delight magic but there is also no hassle.

I would add a camera button that would activate a phone camera and allow pointing your phone at the card instead of enter numbers manually, and make it the default option with an option to enter numbers manually as a secondary option.

(New card details instead of new card’s details would be much better here)

What can be improved:

The card comes with a QR code sticker on it that leads to activate.neo.cc/credit webpage. This is not intuitive. I would expect the QR code to open the app since I already have the app. If I didn’t have the app, I would expect the QR code to take me to a place where I can download the app.

In this case, user would have to enter a lot more details, including entering the entire card code manually and PIN in addition to expiry date and CVC. When opening the physical envelope with a card that has a sticker on it, the easiest thing to do is to scan the QR code on the sticker attached to the card. However, doing the easiest thing does not lead to the easiest flow.

There is also an option to log into the Neo profile, which requires users to enter name and password. Thankfully there is an option to open the app at the very top.

I remember seeing the activation button in the app so I went to the app first and did the easy activation flow, but if I tried to use the QR code on the sticker it would take me longer and I would remember typing in the 16 digit card numbers and looking up my PIN or password instead of having magical wow moments where everything was so easy that I didn’t have to do anything.

Hi @Paul thanks for the feedback! We actually already have some exciting improvements coming to the activation flow that we’ve been working on for a bit. I’ll make sure to share here once it’s been released!
