Neo Insider Feedback: Transit Cashback Opportunity

Our amazing Neo Insider @JDHaven452 started an amazing thread in messages about transit. Here’s what they said:

Is there a way to suggest we work with the companies that do the transit so like the Calgary Transit MyFare or Edmonton Transit. Or for those in Ontario we can get Presto onboard. Especially since those who drive get the 1% cashback. I know Koho offers it as part of transportation. Yet ours is restricted to gas stations

This hit on a point that seems to have got a lot of people thinking and discussing, so I wanted to bring it out here to Building Neo so every one can benefit from the discussion.

Let’s keep the conversation going below :backhand_index_pointing_down::backhand_index_pointing_down:

My personal take - I love this idea. I’m a daily transit commuter and purchase a monthly transit pass, which means I really miss out on the gas cashback each month. Would love to see transit included in a broader ‘transport’ category. And to echo what @pwamenear said, it would be a great way to reward and encourage public transit use.

Me too. I’m a student and I have my Compass Card set on automatic reload from my credit card. I would love it if my Neo card gave me extra cashback on transit.

Personally, I use a different card for commute cashback but it would definitely be more convenient to use neo if they were partnered up so I agree with this message.

I would really appreciate cashback on transit purchases! I purchase adult tickets frequently as I work remotely and don’t drive when I go out. And sometimes I will purchase a day pass to make things a bit easier and not worry about purchasing a ticket each time. All of the cashback adds up (even if it’s just a few cents) and I usually funnel that back into paying off my neo card or to bills. I also think it’d be a great incentive for people to use their neo cards more often as well!

Thanks Jamie for sharing this, I just got notification about this, and I do hope that Neo can bring it eventually

Unfortunately, I don’t have much to comment on this.topic as a former transit employee myy transit fees are covered. When I travel i use Uber and locally in our small community there is no uber, just uride. Uride take up in small communities where there is no uber. Though it would be nice to see rewards set up with you uride

I actually know the founder of Uride, that would be a good partnership to get. Last I checked he was super focused on Mexico, but I should try and reconnect with him sometime! Good flag!

Having more incentives for the greater good like public transit is an excellent idea and something that can connect to all generations! I am a daily commuter for both a local city bus and longer distance trains for work
