Just came across something called MCP (Model Context Protocol) and it got me thinking about Neo.
What if instead of just seeing charts and transactions, you could actually talk to your money inside the app?
Like:
“How much did I overspend this month?”
“What subscriptions am I paying for that I forgot about?”
“Am I on track with my savings?”
And it answers based on your actual data, not generic advice.
From what I understand, MCP would let Neo plug an AI into your account in a controlled way. So the AI can read your data, understand patterns, and give useful suggestions without being risky.
Maybe it starts as read-only, just insights. Later on it could help with small actions, but only with clear approvals.
I think that poses two risks. One is that you’re giving AI a lot of your personal data, which may include account numbers, etc. You will also need to look into liability: what happens if there’s a leak of your personal data? Is Neo liable or the AI provider?
Second, a lot of AI companies are moving away from a flat fee to token-based fees, so Neo would likely be charged per token used. Will people be comfortable paying for those extra insights? Personally, I would not bother with those insights and definitely would not pay extra for them. It would be no different than downloading my transactions into a CSV file and feeding that to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
I would personally love this. A agent to help made smarter decisions.
RBC has a similar tool called Insights, but Neo could take it further by highlighting spending trends as well like “your subscription to NYT is still active, review if you still require this subscription or cancel this will save you xx/yr”
Totally fair, the idea is that users stay fully in control while the AI just helps them understand and manage things better, with sensitive data tightly protected.

Of course, this comes with big questions:
How much control should AI have over your finances? - Seems like everthing is headed that way.
Where do we draw the line between helpful and too much? - ??Not sure??
What would make you trust something like this? - Maybe, but with clear docs and APIs definetly.
I have connected my stock broker(to punchin my orders) and email inbox already with claude.
