The community team wanted to share some information about the recent layoffs here at Neo. If you haven’t seen the announcement you can read about it here.
A key tenant we have on the community team is to always be transparent with our customers. Especially when it comes to sharing more difficult topics. In the spirit of transparency, we want to open up a space for you to ask questions and air any concerns you may have given the recent news.
I also want to share my honest perspective as an employee. Yesterday was truly a hard day, I had to say goodbye to people who are friends and the atmosphere in the office is difficult. However, I still wholeheartedly believe in the mission of Neo and I truly believe that we will continue to build products that have made hundreds of thousands of Canadians choose us.
As I have said to countless of you in this community, I am honoured to spend my day having conversations with customers like you. I get to hear personal stories of how Neo has helped people access credit when no one else would - allowing them to build their credit, access more financial services and even mortgages. These stories keep me here and advocating for you! None of that has changed and Neo will continue to build forward to serve Canadians who are looking to grow a better financial future.
Thanks for the update, I’m glad you and Grant were not included in the layoffs.
What does this mean for the future of Neo, will operations be downsized to accommodate a smaller team, and will customer support response time increase?
@Jay_Pelly_SK, thank you for the kind words. We are both still happy to be here to support this community.
The layoffs will not effect operation or customer support moving forward. We have agreements in place with card holders to provide services - that will not change.
On the product side, the hope is that we will be more focused on shipping products and updates. Meaning we will be better positioned to serve customers.
Most distressing is that TFWs were included in the layoffs and they may have no choice but to return to their home country. One thing to get laid off and then have to look for another job, but to get laid off and not legally able to look for another job here in Canada is another level of Pain.
@cl8onb , I share your concern. It’s definitely upsetting and I can only imagine the difficulties of navigating Visa challenges. I truly hope that they are able to find another job quickly and Neo is helping them navigate the transition through a job fair and networking support.
I’m glad to see you all survived but my heart is with those who lost their jobs in what is a very difficult hiring environment right now. Hoping they’ll all be able to find their way.
Totally agree. I’ve contacted all the folks that I knew directly and opened up my network to them. If you run into anyone, I’m sure they’d appreciate a kind word.
Thanks for sharing the news update @Jamie_Neo . And happy you are with us in the community and have dodged the layoffs. Grateful for your great support.
Hi, thank you for being so open about this. I’m sorry you had to say goodbye to people you care about — that’s never easy, and I can hear how much it weighed on you. It really means something that you’d share that honestly instead of just sending a formal notice. I still believe in what Neo is building, and I’m grateful for people like you who keep showing up for customers even on the hard days. Sending you support today.
