Mexico: Chasing the incredible stadium energy and culture in Mexico.We looked at getting tickets, but they’re insanely expensive in all the stadiums. Too expensive for Canadians, apparently. Toronto still has a ton of unsold tickets.
Instead, we’re going to be cheering from the pub. Let’s goooo!
I totally agree with you, Grant. The prices are insane. I don’t know how many Canadians (middle class or lower) can afford to go to the games with everything else as expensive as it is. Frankly, it was a mistake hosting these games with our tax dollars, and we can’t enjoy them in person. I’ll be at a pub cheering for Team Canada.
For the sake of discussion, I think corporate tickets are part of the problem with sports pricing. Companies buy up big blocks to schmooze clients and consumers can’t compete with those kinds of budgets. It’s part of why (I think) we’re seeing a ton of growth in the newer leagues like the CEBL and CPL. The games are almost as good, the crowds are better, and the tickets don’t require you to remortgage your house.
Yeah nobody wants to go since prices are expensive. Not sure why they thought to host FIFA in canada would be a good idea since Canada/USA doesnt consume soccer as much as Europe and UK does.
Maybe Mexico just wanted to split the bill?
@GrantLahring_Neo I dont think so since the prices in NA is quite high so nobody wants to budge and everybody wants to make the most money. they also spent a lot to make the stadiums according to FIFA rules.
