Weekend Read 📬 The Get: Feb 27

If you haven’t checked out this week’s issue yet, here’s your Saturday reminder.

We’re talking tipping culture in Canada, cash-only strategies, who actually sees the tips, and whether that $8 muffin is really worth it.

Plus:

• How much Canadians actually tip
• Paying off student debt
• Managing the costs of being single
• True or False: Is a secured credit card really a credit card?
• MVP: Dominique Fils-Aimé on soul and self-discovery

Grab a coffee and catch up here.

Enjoy the issue! If you have any story ideas, feedback or just want to say hello, email us at theget@neofinancial.com.

I don’t believe in %ages when presented with the machine. I just select NO TIP and pay the exact amount and then leave a few crisp notes of crisp currency on the table. That’s usually a flat whole amount and the waiter / server (however you call it in whatever geography) is welcome to pocket the entire thing with or without taxes or with or without sharing with their back room and also have no issues of management not paying them their share of the tip

Makes sense, those tip prompts can feel pretty out of touch.
