Payday is coming. Back like it never left đź’¸

When your money hits your account, what’s the first thing you do? :money_mouth_face:

We’re talking real routines, not what should happen, but what actually happens when that cash hits your account!

  • Pay bills / essentials first
  • Move money into savings
  • Treat yourself (just a little )
  • Split it & plan out the month

Pay bills (my neo card first), then if there was any money left over after the bills segregate some for savings and leave a tiny bit for some fun

I automate most of my spending, which makes things much easier. I move money directly into my savings and investment accounts.

We honestly don’t pay much attention to pay day. If the account gets a little high, we move a chunk into savings!

The first two!

As for treating myself- I make sure I include my “discretionary expenses” in the monthly budget

100p! No matter how hard you try to avoid these things, they’re going to happen… might as well make it a line item in the budget.

I have set all our money to immediately be transferred into various savings accounts automatically. Unfortunately, with biweekly paycheques, this has been a challenge! We still have it set up this way and occasionally it causes an overdraft situation. But most times it all goes into separate savings accounts, tagged for certain larger payments or savings. The rest stays in our account, for daily use. Nowadays, we put everything on the Neo MC, and then pay that off when we start to have it too full. Having recently learned that too much utilization can harm your credit score means we will have to ask for an increase so we can continue to put all purchases on the card, so we don’t have to be making a payment every week!
