Instant $5K to $25K Transfers Would Be a Game Changer

I would love to see Neo and Wealthsimple make money movement way more seamless.

One feature that would be genuinely useful is the ability to instantly transfer between $5K to $25K between accounts without friction.

For people who invest actively, timing matters. Sometimes you want to move cash into your brokerage account quickly to take a position. Other times you want to take profit and move that money back into a high-interest savings account right away instead of letting it sit idle.

A simple flow like this would be powerful:

  • Move money instantly from Neo to Wealthsimple when there is an investment opportunity

  • Take profits in Wealthsimple and move cash back into Neo instantly

  • Park free cash in Neo to earn better interest while waiting for the next opportunity

  • Avoid delays, extra steps, and transfer friction

This would make Neo more than just a place to save. It could become the cash hub for people who want their money to stay productive whether they are investing, waiting, or protecting gains.

For me, the ideal experience is simple:
I see an opportunity, I move money instantly, I take the position, I take profit, and I park the cash back in Neo without waiting.

That kind of speed and flexibility would be a game changer.

When you sell an asset, you have to wait for the trade to settle before you can freely move the funds out of your investment account. If you are able to withdraw the funds on the same day you sold an asset, you will have to pay margin interest until the trade settles at the end of the next business day.

This is what money market funds are for.

The best way to do that would be to keep your savings and investments with the same institution so Neo savings + Neo Invest (or Wealthsimple Chequing + Wealthsimple Trade).

Making it easier for you to move your money over to their competitors doesn’t sound like a great way for either Neo or Wealthsimple to grow their asset base.

Thanks Phil, appreciate the breakdown. You’re right that instant deposits exist, and the settlement point makes sense. Additionally I totally missed margin interest point, its good that you brought it up- Make sense.

My point is more about the limit. For most users, Wealthsimple’s standard instant deposit limit is around $5K, while higher limits are mainly for Generation clients with $500K+ AUM. [help.wealt…simple.com]

So the gap is instant movement above $5K for regular users.
