Achievements, Financial Milestones, and Discovery
People use a fraction of what their banking app can do, and the habits they build get no acknowledgement. The old answer was a help system — an exhaustive list of every function nobody opened. Achievements solve the same problem in a format people actually engage with. Especially younger generations that have a love of exposure to video games.
Benefits
For users — iterative discovery of what Neo can do, at your own pace, plus comparison against other Neo users (only 5 % of neo users have this achievement).
For the product — guided experience: any feature with low awareness gets an achievement attached to it. And gamified help — everything the system can do, listed in a modern, engaging way.
Audience — this is for millennials and even more so for Gen Z.
Achievements
Keep conditions simple: buy groceries X times, get a subscription, earn $X cashback, make X purchases abroad, refer X friends, open savings account, something about credit score and so on.
Names should be humorous, video-game style:
| Condition | Name |
|---|---|
| Visit X museums and galleries | Indiana Jones |
| Refer 11 friends | Ocean’s Twelve |
| Make 5 digital purchases | The Chosen Neo |
Some are thematic — FIFA World Cup, NHL playoffs, the Olympics.
Rewards
Needs a product team brainstorm. Reference point: Monobank started with an avatar, and achievements unlocked items for it — and the avatar is visible in social moments like shake-to-transfer and nearby transfer. Later they introduced marketplace where you get a discount proportional to the number of points that you got from the earning achievements.
