# Travel insurance for Quebec folks

I find it a bit unfair that we pay the same annual fee and don’t get the Travel insurance on World Elite Mastercard when you are a Quebec resident.
Why isn’t it offered in our province ? What is different ?

Sir I was 42 years in the Financial Services Industry and almost all the Financial institutions have different laws and legalities in Quebec. That’s just the way it is. I know we don’t have the same regulations. However. I was just questioning the annual fee regarding this omission.

I am sure we could make it work if enough people asked for it! As all Quebec residents know well, operating in QC can be more complex (not always, and the gov. is doing a lot right now to reduce that). I think what’s holding the team back is simply that the ROI is pretty unclear. Reducing the annual fee doesn’t really make sense because AFAIK the cost of the insurance (on a cardholder basis) is pretty insignificant.

It’s because of the way that insurance is structured in Quebec. I read up a little bit on this and apparently banks cannot include these sorts of insurances bundled into credit cards in Quebec.

Yes, some banks do include it, but due to Quebec’s different standards, some banks choose not to go with the high compliance required as it costs a lot (such as Neo, who wants to keep its overhead low) and therefore they don’t offer the travel insurance in Quebec.
