Hey, Guys

I would like to open a thread to gather thoughts on having more features and products that can bring more people to Neo. Something related to credit cards, chequing account benefits, or GICs for short to long-term periods.

I will have a few suggestions below:

1. Having short-term GICs with competitive rates, starting from a 6-month lock-in period up to 5 years.
2. Peer-to-peer lending available to users with better credit profiles through Neo. High risk, high reward, but profiles should be sorted first by Neo. There is a current company in the market named “Go Peer” with a similar model, slightly safer.

Got an opportunity to become part of this insider community. I am trying this for the first time and am curious to see what it brings out in the end. If we end up getting ideas for new and better services for users, it will attract more people towards Neo and fulfill the purpose of us being part of the community.

Thank you 🙏

Love the peer to peer approach. I have used it before.

Sounds insanely risky… what was the experience like? What did the rate and terms end up being?

I believe you’re referring to peer-to-peer lending. Interest rates typically range from 12% to 20%, depending on the borrower’s credit score, credit history, and debt-to-income ratio.

Borrowers are assigned a grade based on their overall credit profile, with A+ being the strongest and D being the weakest. Lower-rated profiles generally receive higher interest rates.

This type of lending is often used for debt consolidation, where borrowers combine multiple credit card balances into one loan and use it to pay off their cards. It can be a more complex process, but I hope this clarifies how it works.

I guess I see the value for the borrower, but the value to the lender seems super low. Lending on a small portfolio is risky by itself, let alone working with clientele that are already dangerously close to defaulting…

Yes, you’re right that it is a higher-risk investment. However, the goal is to reduce that risk through diversification rather than lending a large amount to a single borrower.

The platform provides a list of borrowers with rated profiles, allowing lenders to choose borrowers based on their credit details and risk profiles. For example, if someone is seeking a $1,000 loan, multiple lenders can contribute smaller amounts to fulfill the request.

As a lender, you can diversify your investment across borrowers with different risk profiles. This approach can potentially generate higher returns than traditional market investments, which may average around 3–4%.

This type of investment is not for everyone, and you should never invest all of your available funds. Instead, you can allocate a portion of your money to potentially earn a higher return than traditional investment options.

Crowdsourcing it is interesting, I can see how that would help. Too risky for me though!
