E-transfer to neo

I’m wondering if anyone else is having issues (BMO) when they request through the Interac to send money to Neo? It isn’t going through and I end up having to cancel the request. Is there a way Neo could have an “email” similar to what KOHO does so I can e-transfer to my Neo account?

Use an alias email. If you use Gmail you could just add a +neo before the Gmail.

I also have trouble when people send me money requests and Interac doesn’t recognize Neo as a banking option.

If you go on your Neo Money account (on the app) and hit add funds, you can request an E-transfer from yourself! Then it’s very easy to move it onto your credit card

Hi @Melanieb You can actually request the funds right inside the Neo app so it sends a direct link to pay! Here’s how to do it:

Tap Payments from the bottom navigation bar.

  1. Select Request.
  2. Tap Select a contact.
  3. Choose an existing contact, or tap Add a contact to add someone new.
    • To create: enter their name, email, and mobile number.
    • To import: allow access to your phone contacts and select an existing contact.
  4. Enter the amount you’d like to request, and an optional message.
  5. Tap Review.
  6. Select Confirm.

A notification goes out via email within a couple of minutes, and as soon as it’s fulfilled, the money lands straight into your Neo account. Hope that makes things way smoother!

I’ve done this. The problem is my BMO bank never sends it, so then I have to cancel. I may have to call BMO and see if it’s an issue on their end.

Yes this is sometimes an issue – I know with Scotia Bank that you cannot do this (But oddly no issue with TD Bank). With Scotia Bank there is no listing for Peoples Neo bank do I have to send money to Neo through my TD account. I cannot comment on Bank of Montreal but go in and talk to a teller that is my only suggestion as if the bank is not on their list it will not work.

@Melanieb Have you checked your junk/spam email folder?

I receive the request, I send the money with BMO - BMO states after the request is sent that if the money does not get sent to try again in an hour. It never sends. So I have to do it through the bank directly which takes 5 ish days to arrive. Makes paying my cc hard. I’m going to ask BMO because it worked before and is not now.

It’s a new issue so I wonder if the BMO has changed something. Probably to protect people but not continent for me!

@Melanieb That makes complete sense, if they’re giving that hour long delay prompt, their security filters are likely pausing outgoing transfer requests. Contacting them is definitely the right move to unblock it
Hope They gets that sorted out for you quickly!

Solved! It was a BMO issue but is now fixed. Thank you!

Yes
BMO often takes the full 10 days to transfer money. They also put limits on how much you can transfer in a month.
I even went to a BMO branch and they said there’s nothing they can do.
Terrible service from BMO imo .

From my experiences with BMO, they seem to have extra security protocols especially when it comes to e-transfers. When they were my primary it use to take several hours for an e-transfer to send. It made Facebook Marketplace purchase very awkward :grimacing:
