I’ve always kept a dedicated emergency fund — the “just in case” money I hope I never have to touch.

In total, I keep around $20K set aside:

- Half sits in my Everyday account because it boosts my Neo World Elite card.

- The other half sits in my Neo Cash account because 2.5% interest is a lot better than 0.1%.

I feel like it’s more than a lot of people keep, but I’ve been through a couple of personal financial crises and maybe I’m a bit risk averse.

Curious how other people handle this:

- Do you keep a separate emergency fund?

- Where do you park it (chequing, savings, TFSA, HISA, investments)?

- How much do you think is the “right” amount to keep on hand?

Would love to hear different approaches!
