A Student Perspective on Rewards for Tuition Payments

As a student, tuition is one of my biggest regular expenses, so I was wondering if there could be an opportunity to earn cashback or rewards when paying school fees through Neo.

I haven’t personally seen any cashback or rewards specifically for tuition payments, and I think this could be a great addition for students. Even a small percentage of cashback or rewards on tuition payments could make a meaningful difference, especially for students who are managing school expenses, living costs, and other financial commitments.

It would be interesting to hear what other students in the Neo Insider community think. Would you find a tuition payment reward or cashback program useful?

THAT IS AN INSANE IDEA. Wow

I am not a student but I think if they could offer even 0.25% on everything if they validate a student that would be of big help for students.

You can use Neo to pay tuition with Chexy. They charge a fee but it can be worth it depending on the your cashback level. If you don’t have an account with them, here’s an offer to get $20 when you sign up.

I am already paying taxes toassist with your education. I would not support more subsides for students education. Coprations pay even higher property taxes than induduals. The cash back would take away money for shareholders’ dividends. I would suggest finding a part time job to assist with your education expenses. That what me twins did and they e en purchased a car together and paid 100% of their car insurance.

I suggest you rethink your proposal.

Insane in what way, exactly?

I was college students in 00s in HK. I paid all my 4 years University tutiton using credit card with 0.25% rebate, then I also repaying my student loan with the same rebate. So happy at that time, surprise not the same here..

I think Canadian universities, like most orgs that handle large transactions only, try to avoid credit card payment largely because of the transaction fees to them. Was their a fee for using credit in HK, or do they accept it as a competitive advantage or for some other reason?

It depends on your school but I know at Yukon University, you can pay your tuition online with a credit card. Which, granted, isn’t much cashback but for something you’re already paying for and is largely covered by grants and student loans? It’s definitely a nice $10-20 bucks per semester if you have a Neo World Elite Mastercard… or miles if you have the United or Cathay cards.

As a student, I would love to earn rewards on my tuition as it’s one of the biggest single expenses that I’ll have during the academic year.

Most universities do allow you to pay your tuition using a credit card but the thing is you’ll have to pay a processing fee which could outweigh any cashback that you earn.
